Prephono and Phono Cartridges

In this section you can find Prephono and Fonorivelatori two items for use with the turntable. The prephono is an electronic audio component used to stabilize sound frequencies so that the sound reproduced by the turntable is not altered. It receives an incoming analog audio signal with very low power, amplifies it and sends it back to the other electronic devices, increasing the power of the original signal, which will be clean and clear. If such a device is not already built into the turntable it can be purchased separately.

The phono cartridge is the head of the turntable and there are two types:

  • Moving Magnet (MM or Moving Magnet), the stylus goes to move a magnet, placed between two fixed coils, and gives rise to an electromagnetic generator.
  • Moving Coil (MC or Moving Coil), magnet and coils are located in opposite directions, the output voltage level is reduced and the signal is easily susceptible to rustling.
