Video Cables
Video Cables are needed to connect devices to the sound system and screen so that the analog or digital file is read and played back taking advantage of the movie, picture and sound. There are several video cables:
- RCA, the famous red, yellow and white plugs that carry the analog signal, have interlocking jacks and each color identifies the audio or video source.
- VGA characterized by a 15-pin plug with side hooks for a solid grip; the signal carried is analog and can go up to a maximum resolution of 1600x1200.
- DVI which depending on the letter following this abbreviation identifies the type of signal (Integrated, Digital or Analog). It carries only the video signal.
- HDMI with digital-only signal that carries both video and audio. It supports a maximum resolution of 4096x2160.
- DisplayPort is the cable with the highest resolution and frequency, the signal carried is digital only.
- Thunderbolt has the convenience of carrying data, audio and video; the signal is digital only and supports a maximum resolution of 4096x2160.
- USB allows data transmission at a high speed and with very good performance. It is the most widely used video cable as it is a communication standard.
