For a brand that talks about the "science of sound," amplifiers are really serious business. We are referring to Magnat, which has been delighting enthusiasts for years with high-performance audio equipment.

In the range of proposals dedicated to amplification, the German company has been able to present alternatives suitable for a bit of everyone, from Sunday enthusiasts to the most demanding audiophiles.

And it is precisely to the latter that we want to address today, deepening our knowledge of two outstanding integrated models.

Magnat MR 780: opinions on the integrated amplifier

Let's start with one of the most appreciated models in the entire catalog of the German brand, namely MR 780. This is a high-quality integrated amplifier with decidedly original technical solutions.

The first thing that strikes you is the external structure. The front is totally metal, with solid aluminum buttons. A somewhat retro look, if you will, but definitely elegant and suitable to find a place in home environments of all kinds.

Power output is 100 W on two channels with 4 ohm impedance, and 74 W on 8 ohms.

The technical configuration is full of interesting cues. It finds room, in fact, for a hybrid receiver with a tube preamplifier. The tubes are of the ECC81 type, already matched and broken-in. The power amp, on the other hand, features discrete components with Toshiba transistors.

Connections include two optical and coaxial inputs, a USB audio input and Bluetooth connection 4.0. The latter supports the aptX audio standard. A MM phono preamplifier is not missing, as well as a Wolfson D/A converter with signal reception up to 192 kHz and 24 bits. A built-in DAB/DAB+ tuner and an FM receiver complete a truly complete picture.

Magnat RV4: integrated amplifier that combines design and performance

There are products that impress from the first glance. This is the case with RV4, an integrated amplifier that expresses power and a decidedly original look.

It is a hybrid capable of delivering 150 W RMS power on two channels with impedance of 4 ohms, and 110 W RMS on 8 ohms.

Inside is a tube section with matched and broken-in E88CC tubes. The power amp, separate for each channel, features discrete components with Sanken transistors.

Focusing on the available connections, however, attention is caught by the Bluetooth 4.0 connection with support for the aptX profile. There is no shortage of a MM/MC phono preamplifier equipped with a subsonic filter.

The digital section sees optical and coaxial inputs, and a Burr-Brown converter with signal reception up to 192 kHz and 24 bit. Also available is a subwoofer pre-out, as well as a headphone output.

The chassis is metal with an 8-mm aluminum front panel. In this section the nice touches are numerous. Starting with the OLED display and the aluminum inserts of the remote control and potentiometer knobs.

This is a one-of-a-kind device that can excite and make speakers of all kinds shine.

What about the speakers Magnat? Between Supreme and Transpuls 1500

It is virtually impossible to set up a discussion of Magnat without stopping for a moment to talk about its speakers. Because these are still devices capable of offering outstanding performance at an often competitive price.

Among others, two models have remained in the hearts of enthusiasts. The Magnat Transpuls 1500 speakers and the Supreme monitor range.

The former, as noted in our data sheet, are really a great surprise. Perhaps because of their vintage look, or the 38.1-cm woofer. Or maybe because of the price, which is really competitive for speakers of this type.

The Magnat Monitor Supreme range, on the other hand, includes tower speakers and floorstanding speakers. Such as the Supreme 202, bookshelf speakers with a 165 mm woofer, or the Supreme 2002 tower speakers, with a 25 mm dome tweeter.
